Friends Inspire: Alison

Meet the lovely, sexy, and sultry Alison Jim! Always exerting energy and positive notes when she enters a room. I love this girl!

Birthdate: March 8 Sign: Pisces

Occupation: Actor, Dancer, Singer, Creative Director

Location: (Point Dume) Malibu, CA

Who's your style icon?: Maggie Q's character in Mission Impossible III. I will never forget this cinematic moment...an orange Lamborghini Gallardo cruises to a slow stop. The doors rise. Cue Asian Goddess. She gracefully exits the purring car in a charged, blood-red ball gown. The material flows and moves like the weaving of a dream. A slit to her waist. Half naked and strong. Legs for days. Heels to kill. She shines. A super hero and the dress is her cape. Goddamn...I love an entrance.

How would you describe your sense of style?: Chameleon-like. Naked, confident, bohemian, natural, rock and roll, walking sex.

What are your top favorite items in your closet?: Lucky cut off jean shorts (that are entirely too short and old). Green vintage Oliver Peoples sunglasses. Calvin Klein underwear. Sky-high nude Christian Louboutin pumps. Worn out Hurley flannel. Deep purple peek-a-boo crochet dress by Pirate's Booty (think Morticia Addams goes on a cruise). Wool/cashmere camel wrap sweater from Saks. Red satin corseted Dolce & Gabana dress (the SEX dress). Rhinestone 3/4 sleeve Levi's jean jacket. Giant doily skirt from a designer in London. My Mom's tie-dye grateful dead t-shirt. Jade ring from Chinatown Hawaii. Naked ghost Helmut Lang dress. Diesel hooded jacket with built in rabbit fur vest. Fringed brown suede purse, and my Nike Shox. Whew! That's a whole lot!!

And what is on your wishlist?: Biker boots, adventure, a successful career, an ice-blue convertible bitch car, my soul-mate, harmony, and to be true to the Universe. :)

Out and About:

Murphys, CA

It's been a while since I've posted an Out and About on my blog. Been so busy lately. But I had to post this one. So much fun! This past weekend was my cousin's birthday, so we decided to head over to the Sierra Foothills and enjoy some wine tasting and small town sight seeing. Beautiful. I got to help make wine in the cellar. And boy, it was some heavy duty stuff. I had to have a little help from the owner. hehe. =)

Friends Inspire: Sofia

Meet my lovely friend, Sofia Engberg!  I don't know how she does it, but she always, seamlessly, pulls a great outfit together. Every time!! Check out where she works at Bik Bok. =)

Birthdate: January 31st Sign: Aquarius

Occupation: Assistant Buyer

Location: Oslo, Norway and Sweden

Who is your style icon? Hard question; there are so many of them! Kate Bosworth, Whitney Port, and Danish/Swedish model and singer, Anine Bing, always looks perfect.

How would you describe your sense of style? COMFORTABLE. Girlie, feminine, and soft mixed with rocky. Preppy mixed with grungy. Love vintage! I love classy in a laidback way.

What are your top favorite items in your closet? I actually love most of the stuff in my closet. I try not to shop too often and rather buy something special when I really, really want it. However, working in the buying department of a clothing company makes you a bit shopping-crazy. My favorite items are probably these:

- My short rust-red vintage suede jacket from the Fairfax/Melrose market in Hollywood. I will keep it forever!
- My Acne shoes! They just fit my feet perfectly.
- A vintage Louis Vuitton bag that I bought for $40 USD. The man who sold it to me didn't know what he was selling.
- My two finger bird ring from Portobello Market in Notting Hill/London.
-My white Converse sneakers. I love them and always will. =)
- Levi's jeans shorts with the perfect wash. Not too light blue, not too dark blue.

And what is on your wishlist? No. 1 on my wishlist is without a doubt, Mulberry's Taylor oversized satchel in black. It's the most beautiful bag I've ever seen. =) Find it here.

Friends Inspire: Kahi

Images above photographed by Ashley Noelle.

Meet the lovely Kahi Lee. An extraordinary woman she is, and a stylish one too! She really exudes the "C" in California Cool. As some of you may, or may not know, she is host to HGTV's Design on a Dime. A show I frequently watch on a daily basis. =) Check out her design company, Kahi Lee Lifestyle and get inspired!

Birth date: Dec. 30th Sign: Capricorn

Occupation: Interior designer and Television host

Location: LA / NY

Who's your style icon? From the past: I love Francoise Hardy's effortless and timeless casual elegance and Bianca Jagger's unapologetic rock n' roll glamour. From today: I love Diane Kruger and Erin Wasson.

How would you describe your sense of style? I guess I would call my style stiletto hippie or bourgie bohemian ;) I'm a California girl so I like laidback and unfussy looks but I also like a bit of glitz. I live in jeans, tees and short casual dresses but I also love my sky high heels and 'whole paycheck' handbags.

What are your top favorite items in your closet? I don't know if these are my top favorites, but they certainly get the most wear: Vivienne Westwood black metallic cropped jacket, Sergio Rossi cage toe platform heels, American Eagle Outfitters denim cutoff shorts and oversized Navajo print cardigan.

And what is on your wish list? Oy, there are too many to list but my wish list item of the day is a pair of Isabel Marant fringe boots in white. And a permanent fixture on my wish list are vintage Chanel handbags.

Friends Inspire: Sara

Meet my friend, Sara Bonab. Since I've known her, she's never worn a hideous outfit before. But even if she did, it would look great. Everything pretty much fits like a glove on her. Please check out her blog, Marzo. =)

Birth date: March 5th Sign: Pisces

Occupation: Shop Assistant at a lingerie store

Location:
 Stockholm, Sweden

Who's your style icon? There's so many of them! But Christine Centenera, Alexa Chung and of course our very own Elin Kling is one of my favorites.

How would you describe your sense of style? I don't know if I have a specific style. I sort of just feed my self with fashion and pick the things I like. But I love the Scandinavian, minimalist style.  Designers like Rodebjer, Whyred and Fifth Avenue Shoe Repair appeals to me the most. But then I’d have to make a little more money to wear their pieces I think, ha ha!

What are your top favorite items in your closet? My huge knitted cream cardigan from American Apparel and my orange pumps from Zara. I use them all the time with everything.

And what is on your wish list? Oh my god.  A pair of black Pigalle Louboutin pumps, a dress from Ida Sjöstedt's fall collection, and a scuba-inspired piece (could be anything) from Altewai.Saome...I could actually go on forever.

Friends Inspire: Sheva

Meet my friend Sheva Schuck, the wonderful and charismatic individual whom I first met a long time ago at a boutique in Laguna Beach.  If my memory serves me correctly. =) She is one creative lady and it shows through and through with her style and her designs. I can't refrain myself from 'ooohing' and 'aahhing' from the outfits she wears. And her hair! She's got the good hair! Check out her website Sheva Schuck Jewelry and visit her blog West Native.

Birthdate: July 2nd Sign: Cancer

Occupation: Jewelry Designer

Location: Los Angeles, CA

Who's your style icon?:
My mom circa 1970-1979. She traveled the world in her teens and early twenties and wore some pretty epic outfits. I never tire of looking through her photo albums.

How would you describe your sense of style?:
All over the place! It generally depends on what music or movies I'm into at the time and also what type of jewelry collection I'm working on. One thing that is always consistent is an element of playfulness.

What are your top favorite items in your closet?:
1)the weird and quirky antique jewelry my boyfriend showers me with. He travels for work a lot and always returns home with some new bling.

2) My growing collection of vintage ponchos. I know it's ridiculous and costumey, but I love wearing them with my tall fringy Minnetonka moccasins. I do this year round in spite of the fact I live in LA.

And what is on your wish list?:
(in order of desirability)
1) Every style of Swedish Hasbeens in a variety of colors
2) Mexican embroidered dresses and other Frida Kahlo-inspired pieces
3) The perfect pair of cut-off denim shorts

Out and About:

This weekend was fun! Went to see the movie, Bad Teacher, which I thought was pretty hysterical...if you like sarcasm. At age 39, Cameron Diaz still looks great!

On Sunday, we went to Golden Gate Park for the free concert Alice 97.3FM was hosting. I believe there were about 15,000 people there. It was packed! I've never been to GGP before, and I definitely want to check it out again. The concert performances were great, especially One Republic. ;-)

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. Can't wait for it to come around again.

Out and About:

Lately, it has been quite warm in the bay area...I mean, beach weather warm. That's pretty crazy.
This was a couple weekends ago when Josh's family from Guam came to visit. We decided to take a little stroll to Pier 39 Fisherman's Wharf. We had some clam chowder in a bowl and fed the seagulls some crackers. It was a frenzy!

Speaking of the beach, I've been yearning to go to Santa Cruz. Yes! That should be my next little weekend getaway.
